One of the values indicated on an EU tyre label is fuel efficiency. This is closely linked to rolling resistance. The higher the rolling resistance, the more energy your MINI needs to overcome it – which means lower efficiency and range. EU tyre labels have grades from A to E, with A being the best in terms of efficiency.
Correct tyre inflation is crucial. Underinflated tyres increase rolling resistance, leading to higher energy consumption. Your tyre pressure monitor always gives an accurate tyre pressure reading in your MINI. Just select "My MINI" > "Vehicle status" > "Tyre Pressure Monitor". It’s also worth noting that larger, wider tyres generally have greater road contact, resulting in higher rolling resistance.

If you usually experience hot summers and cold winters, we recommend that you switch to MINI Approved Summer Tyres when the temperature rises above 7°C, then back to MINI Approved Winter Tyres when the weather cools down. The correct tyre pressure is crucial for the service life of the tyres, and for safety, comfort and fuel consumption. This is why we recommend checking the tyre pressure and adjusting it as necessary at least twice a month and before setting off on longer journeys. You should do this even if your vehicle offers electronic tyre pressure monitoring.
